I have decided that I am making very few resolutions this year, but am here to publicly state the ones related to knitting....

I will finish the Mystery Shawl. (I'm actually 3/4 of the way through clue 4.) The colors may be a little obnoxious to others but I love them.

I will finish the Lift and Seperate sweater (or as a friend of mine calls it "The Slut Sweater") from "Big Girl Knits". All the pieces are done, except for the ties, which can't be done until the sweater is sewn together. Now I just have to overcome my fear of sewing seams....

Finish the Sideways Sweater that I got from my former LYS (and fav. hangout). Shoulder seams, sleeves, and edging is all that is left on this (well, and the fact that I might need to buy some more yarn for this, but I'm not sure yet...)

There will be pictures to come for these things I promise. I'm also continuing to knit socks for myself. I also finished a couple of cowls for myself and a fabulous pair of mittens (that only took about a year)--but I managed to teach myself how to knit a 2 color design with one color in each hand, I'm just not very fast that way.

Promise, pictures soon....stay tuned!!Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086006815767031723.post-67927331418509894282008-08-12T23:55:00.003-04:002008-08-13T00:16:58.857-04:00Now what???Well, the Olympics are under way and as always I'm thinking about my Grandpa Steel. What would he think about all of this? I have always wished that I could have heard his stories about his Olympic experiences from him, but that was not meant to be I guess.

On a more fun note, I have signed up for Dish Rag Tag 2008 from Yarn Miracle's blog. It sounds like a lot of fun, and I could use a little fun in my life right now. I'm still working on my mystery shawl, but it feels like not much progress is being made since it takes about 45 minutes to complete one pattern row (if I don't mess up a pattern repeat that is). I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a picture within the next week or so.

The really odd (and truly random) new thing going on is that I have signed up for a Fantasy Football League. It's been set up by the guy that I'm seeing and I think it will be a lot of fun--even though I know next to nothing about footballAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086006815767031723.post-81432434937522583922008-08-02T00:56:00.002-04:002008-08-02T01:08:16.007-04:00Where have I been???Wow! I can't believe that it has been a whole year since I last posted. Yikes! In the past year I have been pretty busy. Quite a few pairs of socks have been made. A sweater from the book "Big Girl Knits" has been started. Sock Madness 2008 came and went (I didn't get past the first round again this year, but I still had fun). A blanket for my new niece was made in very loud "Aunt Ann" type colors. I started talking to and seeing a new guy. I started a new job (coincidentally the same day that my niece was born)-which has been keeping me VERY busy lately. And I signed up for a mystery shawl KAL designed by Renee of Goddess Knits (http://www.bopeepswoolshop.com/zencart/) for her anniversary. It is a circular/PI type shawl and I am just beginning clue #4 out of 5 total.

I'm hoping to get some new project pics up soon as well as begin blogging on a more regular basis.

I shall return!!! (Is that a threat or a promise?? I'll let you decide.)Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086006815767031723.post-26566284580025562812007-07-25T12:59:00.000-04:002007-07-25T14:02:38.076-04:00My bad-didn't mean to go this long!

Oh man-has it really been over 2 months! Yeah, I guess it has. Well, I've been working like a crazy person lately, just wish the money was better. I have been working on 4 different pairs of socks as well: finishing up Mad Weave (Sock Madness), starting Mad to Dance (also Sock Madness), test knitting a pattern for someone else (which count to my total for Summer of Socks), and my Fool's Rush socks for my Sockapalooza pal (which also count for Summer of Socks). Now comes the challenge, to see if I can get pictures on here. I seriously didn't mean to go so long between posts. I know I promised sock pictures last time around, but I haven't had enough time to sit down in an empty house and play around with the camera and Blogger. Need to have an empty house, otherwise as soon as I start something Dad is standing right behind me trying to help me and just confusing me more. Hopefully I will getthings figured out soon. I have turned the heel on my Painted Madness sock #2 (pattern 3 from Sock Madness). As soon as I have this one finished I'm definately going to be swatching and casting on for pattern 5-Mad to Dance. Somewhere in there too I need to finish pattern 4-Mad Weave (although I have a sneaking suspicion that I will have to make a trip to my LYS for more yarn since I had to add 16 stitches to the sock in order for it to fit over my heel and I wear a women's size 11 shoe). I am still trying to decide what pattern to use for my Sockapalooza pal's socks. I don't really have a yarn chosen yet either-but have been checking out her blog and it looks like she tends more toward pastels and purples for herself. That may be the biggest challenge for me-I tend to like things bright and loud. But I know that if I can find the pattern then everything will work out for the best.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086006815767031723.post-84815264279309922822007-05-08T11:35:00.000-04:002007-05-08T11:44:06.402-04:00Classes are done!Ok, they were done last week, but I was too busy cleaning and doing things that I had ignored while working on my paper and my take-home final to celebrate. The last couple of days have been great--all I've done is work and knit (too bad I can't combine the two somehow). I've made a baby hat for a cousin who just had a baby and I've been working on 2 different socks from Sock Madness. I have the pointed edging almost done for sock#2 of the Painted Madness sock-it'll go much faster once the edging is done and the stitches for the cuff are picked up. I had the first sock of Mad Weave down to past the heel turn and thought it was looking a little small, so I tried it on. Yep-too small for me! So frogged the whole thing and started over with more stitches--looking much better this time. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to get some pictures posted here so ya'll can get an idea of what I've been working on.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086006815767031723.post-47376214413029044052007-05-01T16:23:00.000-04:002007-05-01T16:27:47.188-04:00In the Beginning....Ok, I know-I have a really strange sense of humor. What do you expect from someone who is addicted to Mountain Dew, PEEPS and knitting? Sometimes I'm surprised that I can sit still long enough to knit with all the sugar and caffiene running through my system. Well, the title of this blog pretty much says what this whole thing is about--whatever random thoughts pop out of my head and into a post.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09900543358791225721noreply@blogger.com3
